VANorth Texas Healthcare System is recruiting Ophthalmologists for Surgical service.

DUTIES:
VA North Texas Health Care System is actively recruitingacademic physicians for full time staff positions in Ophthalmology to participate in the clinical practice and teaching programs. This position is for a comprehensive ophthalmologist, ideally with subspecialty training, who is board certified in ophthalmology, equivalent certification, or board eligible with expectation of certification in the near future. Clinical duties will be divided between VA locations in Dallas and Fort Worth. Proficiency and performance of cataract surgery is required. Some Saturday and Sunday duty is required, including assignment of routine operative caseloads. Routine performance of VA specific disability evaluations (Compensation and Pension exam) is also mandatory. We have an active affiliation with UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a UTSW faculty appointment is anticipated for the accepted candidate. Faculty rank will be dependent upon academic credentials and experience. The ideal candidatepossesses four years experience in resident teaching, be currently practicing clinical and surgical ophthalmology, and subspecialty training, but not required for consideration. This position offers excellent opportunities for rewarding interactions with an outstanding house staff and faculty, and basic scientists at UT Southwestern, as well as participation in the dynamic evolution of a progressive VA health care system.

Required Skills:
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
U.S. Citizenship (Non-citizens may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens)
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Must be board certified or board eligible in Ophthalmology.
Preferred Experience
1. Possessing 4 years of resident teaching experience.
2. Board certification in Ophthalmology.
3. Subspecialty training.
