- The Eastern Colorado Health Care System, LakewoodClinic is looking for either Family Practice or Internal Medicine physicians to conduct Disability Examinations on Veterans.
- The Ideal Candidate would have 5 years of experience in order to deal with these types of exams. You will have to give opinions and will need experience in order to do so.
- Exams are for the purpose of disability evaluations. The exam length depends on the number of conditions the patient is claiming for the disability exam and can range from one hour to three days. The provider would evaluate general medical conditions. X-rays, labs, pulmonary function tests, EKGs, ECHOs, and sleep studies would be ordered as indicated to make the diagnoses. The provider would have the military and VA medical records for review.
- Exams are recorded by the provider on DBQs (a type of template) in the computer.
- There is no night call. Fee Basis Physicians are paid per DBQ exam.
The C&P physician performs history and physical examinations, orders and evaluates appropriate diagnostic studies, and acts within the guidelines and quality indicators set forth by the Disability Management Administration (DMA), the C&P Service, and the VA ECHCS.
The C&P physician will be responsible for generating C&P exam reports utilizing CAPRI CPRS templates; Disability Benefits Questionnaires and/or other methods as approved by the Section Chief of the C&P Section - for the official record of the veterans' C&P examination.
The C&P physician must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to evaluate veterans served by ECHCS VAMC C&P Service. The individual must demonstrate the knowledge of the changes associated with aging and possess the ability to evaluate veterans based upon physical, psycho/social, cultural, safety and other age related factors as noted in the competencies described in departmental and/or unit specific policies and procedures. C&P physicians will maintain productivity standards as set by the C&P physician supervisor. The C&P physician demonstrates leadership in the C&P Service and demonstrates the ability to work effectively between the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA). C&P physician generates C&P examination reports that meet DMA quality indicators and are adequate for rating purposes. C&P physician also functions as a resource person to other examiners.
